All About You

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as an Industrial Safety Specialist.  The Industrial safety specialist is responsible for the safety program by developing, implementing and monitoring company safety strategies. Responsible for maintaining workplace safety goals. Perform safety compliance inspections and audits. Responsibile for establishing and maintaining safety committees and scheduling training for the new-hire orientation, Hazwoper, first aid, and fire safety training. Conduct assigned training courses. Maintain safety training records and submit OSHA, TotalEnergies, and Saft safety reports. Assist in the management of employee exposure to chemicals, safe chemical handling and storage, and chemical disposal. Ensure the Safety Data Sheet database is maintained.  Create, update, and maintain all safety policies and procedures in accordance with Saft and TotalEnergies One MAESTRO guidelines. Consult with, advise and train stakeholders on safety matters. Assist in the management of the security of the workplace and train employees on workplace security matters. Be creative and lead on site reduction of workplace hazards and injury to employees, contractors, and visitors. Maintain site injury logs, incident reports, and tools to minimize workplace injury (such as anomaly data, Golden Rules, Stop Cards, Safety Green Light, safety management systems, training database, etc.). Responsible for meeting and exceeding workplace safety KPIs and goals. Responsible for the reduction of the site TRIR and meeting company TRIR goals. This position may require occasional domestic or international travel. Other duties may apply as directed by the HSE Manager.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in safety, security, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in implementing workplace safety or security programs. May include technical and/or professional certifications.
  • Experience in battery, metal or electronics recycling, or related industry, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with implementation and understanding of workplace safety management requirements, local regulations, site procedures, and initiatives as directed.
  • Manage data utilizing Safety Data Management System to ensure consistent record keeping of events and incidents, to learn from trend analysis.
  • Investigate significant safety and security non-conformances or incidents and identify and communicate corrective actions. Support the development of corrective actions and continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Support the facilitation of safety and security training·
  • Ensure the maintenance of employee safety files·
  • Provide safety/security information to employees, customers and vendors as requested·
  • Participate whenever possible in EHS meetings and engage with personnel providing feedback to management on EHS related communications and opportunities to improve.
  • Support the implementation and upkeep of the site crisis management program using the FISA method as well as the physical security of the site.
  • May be required to lift up to 50 pounds. Must be able to take physical samples, bend, climb, twist, and reach at various angles.
