All About You

Oversees the inventory and logistics activities in support of the manufacturing business. Is responsible for all aspects of material movement from receiving to storage, issuing to production, and outbound shipping, and ensures the right materials are in the right place at the right time. Lead and develop a high-performing team across material planning, warehouse operations, logistics coordination, customer service, and inventory management. This position reports functionally to the site General Manager and works within Saft’s network of lead buyers.

Requirements

Academic background: : Bachelor’s degree with business or technical background. APICS CPIM education or equivalent a plus.

 

Experience: 10 plus years progressive experience of Supply Chain (including management) in the industrial sector, ideally in a context of high technology manufacturing. Additional experience of inventory management, HAZMAT shipping, and international logistics.

 

Specific Knowledge: Negotiation and managerial skills. An understanding of strategic sourcing, contracts, international trade and Federal Acquisition Regulation. An understanding of ISO9001 and general OSHA topics for industrial and warehouse safety. High proficiency in use of ERP (ideally MFG Pro). Oral fluency in French or Spanish is a plus.

 

Business Understanding: Proactive, results-oriented attitude, strong oral/written communication and networking skills, sense of service to internal and external customers. Track record of international exposure would be a plus. Good understanding of competitive technologies and market developments. Ability to lead, train and mentor employees on a personal level

Responsibilities

Manage Planning, Warehouse, Logistics, Customer Service, and Inventory personnel:
• Deployment of objectives to individual level and adequate monitoring
• Team building assessment and coaching at individual level with adequate monitoring
• Obtain regular feed-back from internal customers about quality of service
• Connect the local team with Saft’s global purchasing organization
• Supporting “World Class” and Safety initiatives to improve the overall performance of the company

 

Promote, identify, and evaluate opportunities for process improvement in order to achieve continuous improvement in cost and quality. Propose and swiftly implement corrective actions. Propose preventive actions. Develop and monitor KPIs for OTIF (on-time, in-full), inventory accuracy, logistics performance, and cost savings initiatives.

 

Collaborate closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Procurement, and Engineering to align material availability with production schedule and to optimize costs.

 

Manage Inventory within the factory. Maintain robust inventory controls (FIFO, expiry tracking, quarantine/release management) and implement real-time inventory visibility tools. Lead analysis of variances to reduce impact on operations and finance.

 

Manage sales administration/customer service team to ensure timely and accurate service to customers.

 

Operate in compliance with Saft’s procedures and methods.  Apply existing procedures and contribute to evolution of these procedures when needed
