All About You

The Production Operator - Cathode will perform duties necessary to produce cathode to be used in the manufacturing process to create a battery. Operations include working in a fast-paced environment, which requires continuous movement necessary to ensure all machines are in full operation. Performing continuity checks when necessary, performing in-line quality checks after each operation, performing simple and complex maintenance, and contributing to team and plant wide activities. Must become certified on all operations within the Cathode area within 12 months. All tasks will be performed while supporting the policies, procedures, goals and objectives of the company.

Requirements

  • Monitors automatic process of all machines to keep machines running, and maintain an acceptable quality level
  • Employee will be expected to perform any other assignments and duties as assigned.
  • Performs various quality checks on both processes to ensure product quality meets specifications and as outlined in Statistical Process Control (SPC) procedures. Performs in-line quality checks after each operation.
  • Makes minor adjustments to slitters and metals equipment when necessary. Records inspection information.
  • Perform continuity checks as required and accurately record all continuity check failures, quality issues, scrap materials.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts.
  • Records information regarding production, scrap, and material usage recording correct R & R number for materials.
  • The employee may be exposed to chemicals used in the process.
  • Certification on Jobs in assigned work area.
  • Mental/visual effort required in performing assemblies of batteries requiring close attention to detail.
  • Maintain 6S in assigned work area.
  • Assemble components into cell and/or battery pack.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to learn to operate a wider variety of equipment.
  • Must be able to see and differentiate colors and be able to pass a color blindness test.
  • A high degree of manual dexterity necessary to make cathode, slit cathode and to operate equipment per specifications. This includes inspecting for proper welds & monitoring machine processes.
  • Must be capable of a moderate degree of visual acuteness when working with precision equipment requiring close tolerances.
  • Must be able to wear safety glasses, goggles, splash shield, chemical suits, and other protective clothing as warranted by the work situation.
  • Must possess the ability to write and key in data from production builds into the computer system.
  • High school education or GED required. Vocational education exposure preferred.
  • Must be able to read, write and communicate in English. Ability to read, write, and perform simple math.
  • Manufacturing Experience is highly desired.
  • Must be willing and able to work any assigned shift and to work overtime on weekdays as well as Saturdays and Sundays if required.
  • Independent judgment is necessary to make minor mechanical adjustments (after required training), which if not done or done improperly, could result in equipment, material, or product damage.
  • Ability to interpret drawings and use small hand tools and measuring instruments capable for measuring thickness to “.0005”.
  • Ability to use small hand tools to assemble component parts.
  • Able to consistantly meet established production numbers daily.
